Add a Removable Phone Charm Without Glue or Drilling
A phone charm is a small place to play with color. This guide keeps that decoration separate from the phone’s main attachment system: a compatible, manufacturer-made anchor and its original connectors. We use Nite Ize Hitch as a clearly identified example, not as a component supplied with KOSBLING accessories. A homemade beaded accent is decoration and must not be relied on as an anti-drop safety strap.
Gather your materials
- Your phone and its undamaged case.
- A complete, compatible phone-anchor kit with its original connectors and manufacturer instructions. The example below is Nite Ize Hitch Phone Anchor + Tether.
- A short decorative charm with its own suitable opening clasp. Avoid sharp or cracked parts.
- A clean, soft work surface and a small pouch for spare connectors.
- Check the kit and case compatibility before starting. Do not make an anchor by cutting packaging plastic or by modifying the phone case.
Make it, step by step
Check the case and the kit
Read the anchor kit’s instructions before assembling anything. For the Hitch example, the manufacturer says it works best with a standard-size case charging opening. Check that your case and kit match this requirement. If the fit is uncertain, ask the manufacturer; do not widen an opening or force a metal part into place.
Position the anchor
Remove the phone from its case. Following the Hitch instructions, position the thin anchor between the phone and case and feed its small ring through the case’s charging opening. Refit the phone. This is an anchor held by the case assembly, not an adhesive applied to the phone.
Connect the original hardware
Attach the kit’s own tether and connectors as directed. The Hitch example uses MicroLock connectors with a twist-to-lock mechanism. Keep that complete system intact. Its product claims apply to that manufacturer’s specified assembly, not to a replacement homemade string or bead loop.
Add decoration separately
Choose a charm with a separate clasp and connect it only at an appropriate accessory point that does not interfere with the kit’s locks. Let the decorative piece hang beside the main connector rather than inserting it into the load-bearing chain. If there is no suitable place for a separate charm, keep it as a bag charm instead.
Check the fit on a table
Make sure the case is fully seated around the phone and the attachment does not block controls or the charging connector. Follow the accessory and phone makers’ guidance when checking charging compatibility. Do not assume that a claim for one anchor applies to every case, charger or DIY addition.
Make changing colors easy
When you want a new color story, detach only the decorative charm. Keep the original anchor and tether arrangement as supplied. Check the charm clasp, cord and anchor for visible wear during normal use; replace a worn component according to its maker’s instructions rather than covering damage with glue.
Pack it thoughtfully
- This installation uses no glue, so there is no curing wait.
- For gifting the accessory, pack the anchor flat and keep metal connectors separate from beads or a phone case so they cannot scratch one another.
- Use a small protective inner box inside a rigid outer box with the empty space filled. Retain the kit’s instructions so the recipient can check their own case compatibility.

Can the beaded charm catch my phone if I drop it?
Do not rely on it to do that. This guide treats the DIY portion as decoration. Any safety or load claim belongs to a complete manufacturer-specified system, not to the added beadwork.
Will every anchor work with wireless charging?
No universal claim is made here. Nite Ize describes charging compatibility for its Hitch product, but your case, phone, charger and added decorations still need to follow their respective instructions.
